About ECNRC

Endocrinology and Clinical Nutrition Research Center (ECNRC) overall aims the development of teaching and highly specialized research in the broad field of endocrinology, diabetes and nutrition, both in its basic aspects and in its clinical applications. Also, at all times ECNRC favor close cooperation between its members, as well as collaboration with other institutions whose interests converge with the purposes of ECNRC.

In the 90s began our work in developing a line of research, led by Dr E. Romero funded by the Health Research Fund of Social Security and supported by the National Institute for Pituitary Hormones (NIPH) in the United States, upon review and approval of our projects, we included in its list of groups eligible to receive animals hormones purified and other reagents needed for our research. In the field of cooperation with private industry, our research projects about growth hormone interested to certain pharmaceutical companies. Similarly, field studies were conducted with diabetic patients and the Special Education Program aimed at these patients, that had the support of the Savings Bank of Salamanca, created the need for an Institute of UVA own (Institute of Endocrinology) upon agreement number 13/91 Social Council.

The creation of the Institute allowed to establish a focal point through which they could channel funding coming from public plans and those offered by private entities to address the training of researchers in this field and develop research projects and contracts with companies in the legal framework of the General Foundation of the University (FUNGE). The activity of the Institute was relaunched by incorporating between 1999 and 2010 of more than 20 new researchers and be named in the Executive Management Institute Dr Daniel de Luis.

Today the interaction of more than 30 researchers with a clear profile to translational research and development projects funded by the Ministries of Health and Education of the Junta de Castilla y León, Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Ministry Science and Technology through the CENIT program (Development Center for Industrial Technology (DCIT), the thematic network RETICEF (Research Thematic Network in aging and frailty), General Foundation UVA and CARTIF Center has created several stable groups of investigators that have replied to various public institutions, to society in general and various private companies with whom we have collaborated in research actions: Novonordisk, Abbott, Novartis, Nestle, Nutricia, Menarini, Gullon, Lilly, Boehringer, Almirall, Mutua Madrileña Foundation, Caja Burgos social work and Study Centers Foundation of Science. We invite all scientists with an interest in the area of endocrinology, diabetes and nutrition to know us.
